DIE GROSSE DEPRESSION
Production Design / Documentary Feature Film (2005)
EN
Realistic-satirical documentary on how the authors of the film interpret a typical German situation. Great depression lies on the country like lead. What is specifically German in this situation is that Germans are largely melancholic. They ponder over their own situation and life and become more melancholic.
Filmmaker Konstantin Faigle (1971-2016) – a hypochondriac himself tries to look at things and his country and fellow citizens with irony and mockery. Are the Germans really such depressive sissies, and if so, why? As a father to be, he does not want his child to be born into a depressive environment, and goes in search of the “heavy German soul”, inspecting various national peculiarities in the process.
